“for we few, the sturdy, the strong, the dreamers, alaska is home, always and forever, the song you hear when the world is still and quiet. you either belong here, wild and untamed yourself, or you don't."
Thoughts: The 1970s was a time when a woman needed a man’s signature for a credit card. It was also a time where men were coming back from the war with no support and the inability to cope with day to day life.
The book deals with horrific spousal and child abuse that can be heartbreaking at times. However, Hannah is able to bring the reader in to her world and understand a place of true beauty when you’ve never been. You become entangled in their world and see the beauty of Alaska through the character's eyes. Highly recommend this compelling read to anyone.
